Lilacs and Tea
Studies from various Pexels photo sources** for today’s practice. I also spent some time drawing with fountain pens, but sharing that will have to wait until the next post of my mark making project. I treated myself to a new pink Kaweco fountain pen and some other goodies from JetPens tonight, but they will probably get here at the end of the month, given shipping delays.

Saturday sketching through aches and pains
And now for a sketchbook with mixed-media paper! I can layer markers and not have it bleed through the other side. I can even use fountain pens and then blend with a water brush! ::Happy dance:: Well, happy dance indeed, if I hadn’t been dealing with some muscle and nerve pain today. Grrr.

Sketchbook Number 4 Finished
Yeeeesss, the Midori sketchbook is filled!!! *jumps with joy* I have been dragging this sketchbook around in my purse since February 2019 (well, after March 2020 it was just near my computer. Cause, you know…not much travel sketching in 2020). And even before that, I had it at my desk at work in 2017 for a while, slowly filling it with occasional doodles and drawing drills. I bought it from JetPens on a whim, specifically for silly doodles. Over time, it’s unexpectedly transformed into a book near and dear to my heart.

Cylinders!
Hah, no energy to think of a catchy title. More digital rendering/form study practice. This time, after I finished the contour lines of the shapes, I blocked in a solid flat color into the shapes and then used a clipping layer so that I didn’t have to worry about staying in the lines. I started the background as a midtone, so that the highlights would be extra satisfying.

Boxes: the filler episode of the this anime
I did not feel like drawing tonight and started later at 8:45pm-ish. Spent the time I’d normally jump into drawing after dinner instead working out (aerobic step for the win) and virtual belly dance class. There must be some sort of happy medium between time being active and time sitting at a desk. I just sit at this desk all day on my work computer and it…makes the motivation to do personal work a little less sometimes. Anyway, for tonight I decided rotated boxes in space would be a simple accomplishment. Unfortunately, the shading took longer than expected. Form studies are a thing I really want to do more of…

Gesture Drawing Practice in Photoshop
Tonight’s art practice is gesture drawings, as the stylized faces were feeling a bit too repetitive. Happily, there’s always opportunity for variation in a drawing practice. No need to feel bored!

Quick Sketchbook Share
Ah, Monday and it’s almost 10pm. At least I filled a few pages in my current sketchbook. I’ve been rewatching Sherlock on Netflix tonight as I sketched. Goes right along with my Batman the Animated Series watch from yesterday. I’m a sucker for any World’s Greatest Detective, dark knight story line, ha. ;p
